Terms

Terms of Service

The agreement for the OptiFlume website, your account and Pro subscriptions, and the license for the software itself.

Last updated 8 October 2026

The short version

  • OptiFlume is proprietary software. You get a license to use it on your own Macs; you do not buy the software or its code.
  • Every account gets one 30-day Pro trial, with no card. It never turns into a paid plan by itself; afterwards the free tier continues for as long as you like.
  • Pro is US$6.99 a month or US$69 a year, plus any tax, processed by Stripe and sold through Link (a Stripe service) as merchant of record. It renews every month or year until you cancel.
  • Cancel any time from your account console. Pro continues until the end of the period you paid for. On a yearly plan, we refund the whole months you have not started if you ask. We do not refund partial months; we do refund mistakes.
  • Routing runs on your Mac. OptiFlume never sends your prompts or code anywhere.

This summary is for convenience. The Terms below are what apply.

1. Who we are and what these Terms cover

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and OptiFlume (“OptiFlume”, “we”, “us”). They cover the website at optiflume.ai and its subdomains, your OptiFlume account, and Pro subscriptions.

The OptiFlume software is licensed to you under the OptiFlume End User License Agreement (the “EULA”), which is part of these Terms and is reproduced in full in section 10. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and our Refund Policy explains cancellations and refunds; both also form part of these Terms.

By creating an account, signing in, installing the software or buying a subscription, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use OptiFlume.

2. Who can use OptiFlume

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. If you use OptiFlume on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it, and “you” then includes that organization. You may not use OptiFlume if the laws that apply to you prohibit it, including export control and sanctions laws.

3. Your account

You sign in with Google, GitHub or Apple, or with a one-time link sent to your email address. Each Mac is connected to your account by approving a short code at optiflume.ai/device. Keep the email address on your account current: we use it for sign-in and for important notices about your account and subscription.

An account is for one person, and it works on any number of Macs that person uses. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your email and sign-in providers secure. Tell us at support@optiflume.ai if you think someone else has used your account. You can sign a Mac out at any time with optiflume logout.

4. Plans: the trial, the free tier and Pro

Free trial

Every account gets one free 30-day trial of Pro. It starts the first time a Mac signs in to the account, not when the account is created on the website. You do not give payment details for the trial, and it never turns into a paid subscription by itself: when it ends, your account moves to the free tier unless you choose to subscribe. The trial is once per person. An account that has already subscribed does not get a trial, and creating or re-creating accounts to get more trials is not allowed.

Free tier

After the trial, or after a Pro subscription ends, the free tier continues with no subscription and no time limit. It does not switch models for you. When a better-suited model exists it shows a small tip and never stops your prompt; the session watchdog and the Guardian keep working. We may change what the free tier includes in future releases.

Pro

Pro includes automatic model switching and the other Pro features listed on the pricing page when you subscribe. One subscription covers every Mac you sign in to with your account. Features marked “coming soon” are not part of what you pay for until they are released.

5. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Merchant of record

Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe through its Managed Payments service, with Link (a Stripe service) as the merchant of record: your purchase is sold through Link. Link processes your payment, calculates and collects sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipts and invoices, which you receive by email from Link. The charge appears on your card statement as LINK.COM* OPTIFLUME. Link’s terms for purchases sold through Link, and the privacy policies of Stripe and Link, also apply to your purchase. We never see or store your full card details.

Price and automatic renewal

Pro costs US$6.99 per month, or US$69 per year, plus any applicable tax, which is shown at checkout before you pay. Your subscription starts when your first payment succeeds and renews automatically at the end of each billing period (a month or a year, as you chose) until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize Link, through Stripe, to charge your payment method the price of your plan plus applicable tax at the start of each billing period until you cancel. For annual subscriptions, we email you a reminder before each yearly renewal.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time in your account console (Billing): choose Manage subscription, which opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can also update your card and download invoices. You can also manage or cancel the subscription at link.com, or email support@optiflume.ai and we will cancel it for you. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you are not charged again. Pro stays on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account moves to the free tier. Until that date you can resume the subscription from the customer portal. If you cancel an annual subscription, you can instead ask us to refund the whole months of it that have not started, as the Refund Policy describes; Pro then ends when the refund is made.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Pro pauses until it goes through, and your Macs get the free tier meanwhile. Stripe retries the payment and Link may ask you to update your card; you can update it in your account console (Billing, Manage subscription), and Pro comes back on at each Mac's next check-in after the payment succeeds, usually within a few hours, or at once with optiflume refresh. If the payment still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and your account stays on the free tier.

How Pro reaches your Macs

Each Mac confirms your plan by fetching a signed license from optiflume.ai, automatically. A license lets a Mac work offline for up to about 30 days, plus a 14-day grace period, except a license that ends with your paid period, which has no grace period. After that, Pro features pause until the Mac can reach optiflume.ai again.

6. Price changes and the founding price

Founding price. If your Pro subscription started at US$6.99 a month or US$69 a year, we will not increase the price of that subscription for as long as it stays active without interruption. Resuming a canceled subscription before its paid period ends counts as uninterrupted. The commitment ends when the subscription ends, for example when a canceled subscription reaches the end of its paid period or when a renewal payment cannot be collected; a later subscription is at the price in effect then. Changes in tax are not price increases.

Other price changes. We may change the price of Pro for new subscriptions at any time. If we change the price of an existing subscription that the founding price does not cover, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies. It will apply only from a renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then.

7. Refunds

Our Refund Policy sets out when we refund a charge. In short: you can cancel at any time, we do not refund partial months, and we refund charges made in error, and wherever the law requires a refund, when you ask within the time the policy gives. Nothing in these Terms limits any right to a refund that the law gives you.

8. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in your account console (Account, Delete my account). Deleting it:

  • cancels any active subscription so that it will not renew;
  • ends your Pro plan on our servers immediately (a Mac may keep its last license until it next checks in or that license expires), including any time left in a period you have paid for, which is not refunded except as the Refund Policy provides;
  • signs out every Mac and browser, so your Macs stop receiving licenses;
  • deletes your account, its linked sign-in providers and sessions, your plan record (a one-way record of your trial dates is kept so the free trial stays once per person, as the Privacy Policy describes), your usage rollups and console settings, and any Teams early-access requests sent from your email address, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Stripe and Link keep their own records of your purchases, as the law requires of them. Deleting your account does not remove OptiFlume or its data from your Macs: to do that, run optiflume uninstall --purge on each Mac.

9. Acceptable use

When you use the website, your account or our servers, you must not:

  • break the law or infringe anyone else’s rights;
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our systems, or bypass any security, sign-in or license measure (please report vulnerabilities to support@optiflume.ai instead);
  • interfere with or overload our services, including by sending automated requests other than those the software makes in normal use;
  • forge, alter, share, sell or reuse licenses, sign-in sessions or accounts;
  • create accounts with false information, or to obtain additional trials;
  • access our services other than through the software, the website and the interfaces we provide.

10. The software license (EULA)

The OptiFlume software is licensed, not sold. Its license is the End User License Agreement below, which also ships with the software as the LICENSE file. If these Terms and the EULA conflict about the software, the EULA controls. The EULA refers to us as the “Licensor”.

End User License Agreement

OptiFlume (formerly Intent Router). Copyright © 2026 OptiFlume. All rights reserved.

This End User License Agreement (the "Agreement") is a legal agreement between you and the Licensor for the OptiFlume software. By installing, signing in to, or using the Software, you agree to this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software. If you accept this Agreement on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it, and "you" includes that organization.

1. Definitions

"Software" means the OptiFlume application for macOS, including its Cursor hooks, companion editor extension, Claude Code and Codex integration (editor settings, a Codex hook, terminal commands and the OptiFlume Status extension), command-line tool, compiled and non-compiled code, models, data files, configuration, scripts, and documentation provided to you by the Licensor, and any updates to them.

"Licensor", "we" and "us" mean OptiFlume.

"You" means the individual or organization that installs or uses the Software.

"Account" means your OptiFlume account at optiflume.ai.

"Terms" means the OptiFlume Terms of Service at https://optiflume.ai/terms, which govern the website, your Account and subscriptions, and which incorporate this Agreement.

"Trial", "Free Tier" and "Pro" mean the plans described in Section 3.

2. Grant of license

Subject to your continuous compliance with this Agreement, the Licensor grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install the Software in the form we provide it and to use it, on any number of Mac computers that you own or control, solely for your own use or, if you are an organization, for your internal business purposes. The features you may use at any time are those of the plan your Account holds at that time (Section 3). Each Account is for one person: every person who uses the Software needs their own Account.

3. Plans: trial, free tier and Pro

3.1 Account. Using the Software requires signing in to an Account from each Mac. Signing a Mac out, or deleting your Account, stops that Mac from receiving licenses.

3.2 Trial. Each person receives one free trial of Pro, lasting thirty (30) days, which starts the first time a Mac signs in to their Account. The Trial requires no payment details and never turns into a paid subscription by itself. A person who has already had a trial or a Pro subscription, including under an Account since deleted, does not receive another. You may not create additional Accounts, or ask others to, in order to obtain additional trials.

3.3 Free Tier. When the Trial ends, or when a Pro subscription ends, the Account moves to the Free Tier. The Free Tier requires no subscription and has no time limit. In the Free Tier the Software does not switch models automatically; it may show a non-blocking tip when it identifies a better-suited model, and other features may be limited. The Licensor may change the features of the Free Tier in future releases.

3.4 Pro. Pro is available by paid monthly or annual subscription purchased through the Licensor's website. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe through Managed Payments and sold through Link (a Stripe service) as merchant of record, renew automatically at the end of each monthly or annual period until canceled, and may be canceled at any time, in which case Pro continues until the end of the period already paid for, except as the Refund Policy provides for annual subscriptions. Prices, billing, cancellation and refunds are governed by the Terms and the Refund Policy at https://optiflume.ai/refunds.

3.5 License verification. The Software periodically obtains a signed license for your Account's plan from the Licensor's servers. A license lets the Software work offline for up to approximately thirty (30) days and, except where the license ends with your paid subscription period, for a further grace period of fourteen (14) days. If the Software cannot obtain a current license after that, features that depend on your plan may stop working until it can.

4. Restrictions

Except to the minimum extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law, you may not, and may not permit any third party to:

  • (a) copy, publish, distribute, rent, lease, lend, sell, or sublicense the Software, in whole or in part, other than making the copies that installing and using it under this Agreement requires;
  • (b) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, models, or underlying structure of any component of the Software;
  • (c) modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Software;
  • (d) remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice;
  • (e) use the Software to build or assist in building a competing product, including any product that selects, recommends, switches, or routes between AI models, or optimizes the cost or context of AI usage;
  • (f) circumvent, disable, or interfere with any license, trial, or entitlement control, or any usage or security limit, in the Software, or tamper with, forge, or reuse licenses issued for another Account;
  • (g) share your Account or its sign-in sessions with another person, or provide the Software to others as a hosted or managed service; or
  • (h) use the Software in violation of any applicable law or of the terms of Cursor, of Claude Code, of Codex or of any AI model provider.

5. Third-party software and services

5.1 Open-source components. The Software includes open-source components that are licensed to you under their own licenses, listed in the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES file provided with the Software. Nothing in this Agreement limits your rights under those licenses for those components.

5.2 Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and AI models. The Software works with the Cursor editor, with Claude Code (made by Anthropic) and Codex (made by OpenAI), and with AI models provided by third parties. The Licensor is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anysphere, Inc. (the maker of Cursor), Anthropic, OpenAI or any model provider. Your use of Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and AI models is governed by their own terms, and you are responsible for any charges they make, including charges for the models the Software selects. A change to Cursor, Claude Code or Codex may stop some features of the Software from working until the Software is updated.

6. How the software operates

6.1 On your Mac. The Software installs hooks into Cursor and a companion extension. By default it also connects Claude Code and Codex, in the terminal and in your editors, through an editor setting, a Codex hook, its own claude and codex commands, and the OptiFlume Status extension; you can turn this off when installing, or later with optiflume harness off (editors) and optiflume terminal off (terminal). It reads each prompt and relevant session information on your Mac and, depending on your plan and settings, recommends or switches the model Cursor, Claude Code or Codex uses. In Cursor, to finish an automatic switch, it uses the macOS Accessibility permission, only if you grant it.

6.2 Estimates. Figures the Software or the website shows as "saved" or as costs are estimates, calculated from published model prices and the token counts available to the Software. They are not invoices or guarantees, and your actual charges are set by Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and the model providers.

6.3 Safety features. Features such as redacting secrets and warning about or blocking destructive commands are best-effort aids. They do not guarantee that sensitive information is never exposed or that harmful commands are never run. You remain responsible for reviewing what AI models produce, for the code and commands you accept, and for keeping backups.

7. Updates and compatibility

The Software checks for a newer version when Cursor or VS Code starts, when a Claude Code or Codex session starts, and every few hours, and installs it automatically, in your own user folder and without asking for your password, after verifying that the release is signed by the Licensor and that the package is signed with the Licensor's Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The new version takes effect when you reload your editor or start a new session. You can turn automatic installation off ("auto_update": false in the settings file described in the documentation); the Software then only tells you when an update is available and installs it when you choose to. The Software also fetches a signed compatibility list, which the Licensor may use to pause automatic switching on a Cursor version known not to work with it. Updates are governed by this Agreement unless they come with a different agreement.

8. Privacy

The Software is designed to run locally: routing decisions are made on your Mac. The Software does not send your prompts, code, or file contents to the Licensor or to anyone else. The limited information it does send (sign-in, license refresh, a usage rollup of counts that is on by default and can be turned off, update, compatibility and model-price checks, reading Cursor's public model-price page for models it has no price for, and the download of its local models) is described in the Privacy Policy at https://optiflume.ai/privacy. Cursor, Claude Code and Codex themselves send your prompts to the model providers you use, under their own terms; the Software changes which model is used, not whether a prompt is sent.

9. Ownership and feedback

The Software is licensed, not sold. The Licensor retains all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved. If you send the Licensor suggestions or other feedback, the Licensor may use them without restriction or obligation to you.

10. Term and termination

This Agreement is effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any time by uninstalling the Software and, if you wish, deleting your Account. It terminates automatically if you breach Section 4, and the Licensor may terminate it, or suspend your Account, if you materially breach any other term. The Licensor may stop offering the Software on at least thirty (30) days' notice; if it does, it will refund the unused part of any subscription period you have already paid for. On termination you must stop all use of the Software and destroy all copies in your possession or control. Sections 4, 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 survive termination.

11. Disclaimer of warranty

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE LICENSOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT IT WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH ANY VERSION OF CURSOR, CLAUDE CODE OR CODEX OR WITH ANY AI MODEL, OR THAT IT WILL REDUCE YOUR COSTS BY ANY AMOUNT. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA, OR ANY CHARGES FROM CURSOR, CLAUDE CODE, CODEX OR AI MODEL PROVIDERS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE LICENSOR'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS (US$50). Nothing in this Agreement limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

13. Export

You may not use, export, or re-export the Software in violation of United States or other applicable export control and sanctions laws, or in any country or by any person subject to comprehensive sanctions.

14. Governing law and disputes

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. The state and federal courts located in the State of Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or related to this Agreement, except that either party may bring an individual claim in a small-claims court that has jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this Section does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live or of any right you have under those laws to bring proceedings in the courts there.

15. General

This Agreement, together with the Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy, is the entire agreement between you and the Licensor about the Software. If this Agreement and the Terms conflict about the Software, this Agreement controls. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the rest of this Agreement remains in effect. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this Agreement without the Licensor's written consent; the Licensor may assign it to an affiliate or to a successor to the business, including a company the Licensor forms to operate OptiFlume. The Licensor may update this Agreement; the version in effect when you install or update the Software applies to that version, and material changes will be announced on the website and by email at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. The Software is "commercial computer software" and is licensed to United States government users only under this Agreement.

16. Contact

Questions about this Agreement or licensing arrangements: support@optiflume.ai.

11. Third-party services

OptiFlume works with services we do not control: Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and the AI model providers you use through them; Google, GitHub and Apple if you sign in with them; Stripe and Link for payments; and, if our own download server is unavailable, Hugging Face for the local model files. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them. OptiFlume is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anysphere, Inc. (the maker of Cursor), Anthropic (the maker of Claude Code), OpenAI (the maker of Codex) or any model provider. You are responsible for any charges from Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and model providers, including for the models OptiFlume selects.

12. Estimates, availability and changes

Savings and cost figures in the software and on your dashboard are estimates, always shown as “about”, based on published model prices and the token counts available to OptiFlume. They are not invoices and not a promise of any saving.

The website, sign-in and license services may sometimes be unavailable. Because each Mac keeps a signed license, a short outage does not stop the software from working. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a major Pro feature, we will tell you in advance so that you can cancel. If we stop offering Pro altogether, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice and refund any unused time you have already paid for.

13. Intellectual property and feedback

The software, the website and their content, and the OptiFlume name and logo belong to us and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These Terms do not give you any right to use our name or logo. If you send us suggestions or other feedback, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you.

14. Suspension and termination

You can stop using OptiFlume at any time, and delete your account as described above. We may suspend or close your account, or stop issuing licenses to it, if you materially breach these Terms or the EULA, if the law requires us to, or to protect our services or other users from harm. Where it is reasonable to, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. If we close your account for any reason other than your breach, we will refund any unused time you have already paid for. Sections 7, 13, 15, 16 and 18 of these Terms, and the parts of the EULA that its section 10 says survive, continue to apply after your account is closed.

15. Disclaimers, liability and disputes

The disclaimer of warranty, limitation of liability, export, and governing law and disputes sections of the EULA (sections 11 to 14 above) also apply to the website, your account, subscriptions and these Terms, read as if each reference to “the Software” included them. In particular, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, and if you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

16. Business use and indemnity

If you use OptiFlume for a business, that business will defend and indemnify us against claims by third parties arising from its breach of these Terms or the EULA, or its misuse of OptiFlume, to the extent the law allows. This section does not apply to you if you use OptiFlume as a consumer.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights or your subscription, we will also email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using OptiFlume after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply; if you do not accept them, cancel your subscription and stop using OptiFlume before then. A change does not apply to a dispute that arose before it took effect.

18. General

These Terms, including the EULA, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about OptiFlume. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the rest of these Terms remain in effect. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms without our written consent; we may transfer them to an affiliate or to a successor to the business, including a company we form to operate OptiFlume. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We send notices to the email address on your account; you can send notices to support@optiflume.ai. If these Terms are translated, the English version controls.

19. Contact

These Terms are offered by OptiFlume. Questions about these Terms: support@optiflume.ai.
